Allen McCall Resigns from Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board - Replaced with Former DA Richard Smothermon

Today the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board released its agenda for next week's meeting. It states that the Board will be inducting a new member, Richard Smothermon. It is also clear from the Agenda that Comanche County Judge Allen McCall has stepped down from his service on the board.

McCall has been on the Board since 2017, and had been openly oppositional to reform efforts, as well as to former Pardon and Parole Board Director Steve Bickley. McCall was appointed by the Oklahoma Supreme Court.

The Court's new appointee to the Board, Richard Smothermon, was the elected District Attorney in Lincoln and Pottowatomie counties. Most recently he was listed by the Oklahoma Ethics Commission as the legislative liaison for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

Tricia Everest, Governor Stitt's recently confirmed appointee to Secretary of Public Safety, will also address the Board Monday, as the Board is one of the state agencies that report to her.
